  • RAM (RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY)
    The main memory space in a computer, used to hold programs while they are executing and changeable data.
  • RCF (REMOTE CALL FORWARDING)
    A service of the phone company that allows a customer to have a local number in a distant area and have calls to that number forwarded to the customer's main number
  • REMOTE ACCESS
    The ability to call, enter into and use the system from a location other than where the equipment is located.
  • RESALE CARRIER
    A company that buys communication time in bulk at one rate and sells it to others
  • ROUTE
    The path that a call takes from the calling party to the called party. Often used to refer to a TRUNK or TRUNK GROUP
  • ROUTING REPORT
    A report that analyzes the calling patterns of the outbound traffic on a system for the purpose of planning telecommunications facilities and selecting the most cost-effective manner to route calls.
