NANP (NORTH AMERICAN NUMBERING PLAN)
The method of coding phone numbers used in North America (excluding Mexico) and the Caribbean whereby each phone number has a three-digit area code, three-digit central office code or exchange number, and four-digit subscriber number. The NANP, along with new area code and prefix assignments, is administered by NeuStar, Inc. See also AREA CODE, EXCHANGE NUMBER.

A feature of PBXs that allow a call to be answered at a location other than the operator console when the attendant has left.

A code for a central office in the North American Numbering Plan. Also known as PREFIX. See also EXCHANGE NUMBER.
