HigherGround Participates in ICE 3

LOS ANGELES, CA – December 3, 2010 – HigherGround, Inc., a software developer of digital voice recording, quality assurance, and reporting tools for public safety communication centers, participated in the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) Industry Collaboration Event (ICE 3) this week in Bryan, Texas.

The focus of the event was location information which is one of the most critical data elements in the operation of NG9-1-1 for call routing. The companies involved evaluated multi-vendor interaction between the following functional elements:

  • Emergency Call Routing Functions
  • Emergency Services Routing Proxies
  • Location Information Servers

The testing explored a greater detail of specification called for in the requirements in variety of different "real world" situations focusing on location and associated uses. "HigherGround is proud to continue our participation in the development process of the technology needed to support the future requirements of emergency responder personnel," stated Remi Rundzio, Senior Developer, HigherGround.

Citizens are now starting to use a wide range of communication devices to contact public safety answering points (PSAPs) with emergency 9-1-1 calls and notifications including a variety of voice interactions (telephony, cell, radio, VoIP), video, text and email messages. NENA created the Next Generation Partnership Program (NGPP) and ICE with "the ultimate goal of ensuring that everyone has access to emergency services, anytime, anywhere, from any device," according to the www.nena.org website.
